State Senator John J. Millner (R- Carol Stream) is inviting both the media and residents of the 28th district to a local hearing aimed at giving citizens a venue to voice their concerns over the Governor’s recent budgetary vetoes.
The Governor recently cut more than $450 million in “pork” from the bi-partisan approved budget in order to free up money to expand healthcare. Since the move, it has been discovered that several worthy initiatives and projects were cut from the budget, apparently for political reasons.
“We shouldn’t let the Governor get away with these cuts because the bulk of the projects I’ve seen are nowhere close to being ‘pork’, in fact they are very worthy projects, and in some cases a dire need for safety and security reasons,” Millner said. “I invite anyone who is concerned about these vetoes to join me and my colleagues at this hearing to send a clear message that people are paying attention and want this money restored. Public pressure may be the only way to force these projects back on the table.”
Senator Millner did note that in the event the Illinois Senate is in session that day, he may not be able to attend the function, but would still encourage residents of the 28th district to attend and voice their concerns.
