Proceeds will benefit the Foundation for Educational Excellence. The Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization formed in 1988 governed by a Board of Trustees made up of leaders from local businesses and the community, and District staff. Its mission is to acquire and distribute financial and other resources to West Chicago Elementary School District 33 for enrichment programs and other projects aimed at enhancing the quality of education and providing students and staff extended learning opportunities. More than $70,000 has been given to classroom teachers in the form of Mini-Grants through the Foundation's fundraising efforts. In addition, the Technology Center at the Middle School, the Computer Writing Center, Artist and Technologist in Residence Programs, and the "Read Under the Trees" summer reading program have all been funded thorough the Foundation.
The winner may designate a beneficiary, and when the winner chooses the $10,000 scholarship will be paid direct to any college, university, or technical school of the winner's choice. The prize amount will be adjusted if all tickets are not sold.
