For the remainder of the school year, we will be maintaining the enhanced security measures that were implemented the week following the threat situation.
Those measures are as follows:
- Students will only be allowed to enter the building through Entrances A and H. Entrance E is closed.
- Students arriving prior to 7:30 a.m. will be held in Commons. Students will not be allowed into the hallways prior to 7:30 a.m. This does not apply to 0 hr. students. 0 hr will continue to meet as usual. Students who need to see a teacher for help in the morning prior to 7: 30 a.m. need to obtain a pass the previous day from the teacher to do so. Date and time need to be indicated on the pass. Students who need to utilize the services of the LRC prior to 7:30 a.m. need to obtain a pass from their teachers or from the LRC staff in order to do so.
- Students will not be allowed to wear coats in the building during the school day.
- Bathrooms without security cameras monitoring the entrances will remain closed.
- Students who are not at a designated activity after school need to exit the building by 3:30 p.m.
At this time, the investigation into the threat situation is ongoing in cooperation with the West Chicago Police Department. The monetary reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the party involved is still being offered. Thank you again for your cooperation with the events of the past couple of weeks and the resulting changes. We believe Community High School is a safe environment for students to learn and grow and we will continue to do all that we can to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
