West Chicago Lacrosse plays host to the largest high school lacrosse tournament in Illinois! The 3rd Annual Wildcat Sticks and Stones Classic Lacrosse Tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and 20, 2008 from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm each day, hosting 18 teams in 2 levels. The teams will compete on four fields at West Chicago Middle School, 238 E. Hazel Street, West Chicago. The Varsity championship final will take place at West Chicago Middle School on Sunday, April 20 at 2:15 pm; the awards ceremony will follow.
Teams from Wisconsin will be joining local lacrosse teams for this tournament. Participating teams at the Varsity level include: Green Bay Metro (WI), Sun Prairie (WI), Appleton Lacrosse (WI), Northwest Suburban Lacrosse, Geneva, North/South Lacrosse, Waubonsie Valley, Mather, Arlington Huskies, Glenbard West, Vernon Hills and host team West Chicago.
Teams participating at the Junior Varsity level include: Naperville Central, Geneva, York, Bartlett, Glenbard West and host team West Chicago.
Teams play 3 games on the first day in a round-robin tournament to determine their seeding for the second day of competition in one of three divisions; Gold, Silver and Bronze. Each team then plays two games on the second day in single elimination tournaments for first through fourth place in their division. Trophies and medals will be awarded to the Gold Division champions, and trophies for second and third place. Trophies will also be awarded to the champions of the Silver and Bronze Divisions. In addition, sportsmanship and most valuable player awards will be given.
Admission is free. Concessions and T-shirts will be available for purchase. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in Illinois. Don't miss this opportunity to see exciting high school lacrosse in action!
