Comments by the Mayor of West Chicago, Mike Kwasman, at the City Council meeting on July 16, 2007.
Now that Railroad Days is over and I am confident my alderman had a good time and you did not, shame on you.
The chamber did totally outdo them self and our Park District did as always put their best foot forward. I must personally thank Dave Sabathne and his staff for making sure that West Chicagoans all walked in with surprise and left with smiles.
The round up of entertainment and the thrills of our carnival, I know were the envy of all the surrounding communities and we let others in on our secret of West Chicago, a city love loves to get together and have a good time.
I also would be remiss without thanking the West Chicago Police Dept. for being the ambassadors to our city and putting in hour after hour of a presence of calm with a quality of professionalism.
Our city staff again came through manning the City booth with a charm and grace that those who experience this now know how they take pride in our city.
On Sunday those that witnessed our parade saw families coming together to witness the last of the hometown parades, from what I witnessed it was a dentists dream from the tons of candy that was handed out.
As always our cable COM volunteers were there to make sure that we can enjoy this festival for years to come.
A special thank has to go to Deluxe towing for carrying the cities all-star Dixieland band and the kids and moms from Forest Trails and Cornerstone lakes.
Also thanks to Alderman Nicky D, Al Murphy and Matt Fuesting for the Mayors candy patrol.
Please know how proud I was for the reorganizing of the Forest Trails Kazoo Korps and honoring their home town boy, me, we even sang and played on key, (I think).
The wait till next year is upon us and how we can outdo this year will be almost imposable, but I know they will.
Mike Kwasman
