CHS Students Place Third in Community
Service Contest
at National SkillsUSA Championship
The Community High School Skills USA chapter won the bronze medal at the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference held last month in Kansas City, Missouri. Michael Liddicoatt of West Chicago and Shawn Przybyla of Winfield represented the chapter at the conference and made the winning presentation in the Community Service competition. The winning project was the highly successful food drive that SkillsUSA held at the high school this past year. The project also won a silver at the state level.
SkillsUSA is the national organization for students in trade, industrial, technical and health occupations education. The Community Service contest evaluates local chapter activities that benefit the community. Teams are evaluated on the content of their plan, the vision and purpose of their project and the results they achieved. Each team delivered a short presentation before a panel of judges while their project plan binders are reviewed by another group of judges.
Family and Consumer Science teacher Patti Kozlowski accompanied the students to the conference. She and Paul Junkroski are SkillsUSA advisors at Community High School.
