investigates armed robbery
WEST CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, DECEMBER 23, 2005 – The West Chicago Police Department is investigating an armed robbery which took place on December 19, 2005 at approximately 7:48 p.m. at the Dollar General store, located at 950 E. Roosevelt Road, West Chicago.
The
two male suspects entered the store through the front door while the store was
open for business. Suspect #1, who is described as a short male Hispanic,
possibly 5’04” to 5’06” tall with a medium to heavy built and wearing a white or
beige hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, was armed with a black handgun and a can
of mace or pepper spray. Suspect #2 is described as a male Hispanic, taller than
suspect #1, with a thin build and wearing a dark color sweatshirt and dark pants
was not armed. Both of the suspects were wearing dark ski masks, with a single
facial opening.
Upon entering the store, suspect #1 displayed a black handgun and directed the two employees to the rear of the store, where they gained access to the safe. Before leaving suspect #1 sprayed caustic substance on one of the two employees’ face. The two suspects ultimately exited the store via the rear door and ran south into the Riverwood Apartments, where they were later seen getting into an older blue Chevrolet Impala or Caprice.
The suspects left the store with an undisclosed amount of currency.
Attached to this press release is a sketch of a male subject seen in the area of the Dollar General minutes before the robbery took place. The subject matched the physical and clothing description of one of the two suspects involved in the robbery.
