Education Partners good afternoon,

Several items as we head into the last weekend of the 2005-06 school year:

The March 21, 2006 Building Referendum survey is now posted on the front page of the district website.

To reiterate: this is an anonymous, secure, short, optional survey designed to gather feedback about the March 21 referendum. Anyone can take it, whether you voted or not, so please spread the word to neighbors, taxpayers, and voters who may not have children in our schools. It will remain posted through June 16, 2006. Sodexho, our food service provider, wants parents of incoming freshmen to know that the implementation of the POS system at St. Charles East High School was postponed and will not be available on the first day of school for students.

Sodexho expects the POS system to be implemented at St. Charles East High School on August 29, 2006 and at St Charles North High School on August 31, 2006.

Although your current 8th grader’s lunch account balances will rollover to the next school year, as it does in all grades, this money will not be available for their use until the POS system is implemented. Students will need to use cash for these first few days of school.

Kudos to St. Charles East junior Chris Geldes, who was named to the North Suburban Math League's Honorable Mention list for his work as an oralist this year; St. Charles North junior Patrick Eschenfeldt, who was also named to the North Suburban Math League's Honorable Mention list; and St. Charles North High freshman Benjamin Ray, who made the North Suburban Math Leagues's All-Coference team.
Congratulations and best luck to these STC East and North high student/athletes who will be competing at the boys state track meet this weekend:

From St. Charles East High School
- 200, 400 meter: Junior Alex Jackson
- 300 meter intermediate hurdles: junior Travis Nier
- Long jump: junior Zac Motley
From St. Charles North High School
- 4x800 meter: junior Bryan Barker, and seniors Chris Rosso, Steve Wiitanen, and Andy Barbeau.
- 1,600 meter: senior Michael McDonnell
- 1,600 meter: sophomore Chris DeSilva
- 3,200 meter: senior Matt DeSilva
- 3,200 meter: Michael McDonnell
Congratulations to Bell-Graham Elementary School 5th grade teacher Scott Etters, on the release of the third book in his Dropas Trilogy. The book is called “The Dropas: Fate of Eternity.”

“Congratulations, District 303 graduates”
(May 24, 2006)

As a teacher, staff member, or administrator, it is sometimes hard to know how you are impacting students.

Certainly we have test results to help guide instruction and ensure that we’re meeting learning standards, and our students overall do well on these important measures.

Still, in the end, the only real proof that our efforts to teach, and your hard work and commitment to learn, have been meaningful and fruitful comes through real-life application after students leave our schools.

With that in mind I want to congratulate all of our District 303 graduates as you head on to college, employment, the military, or whatever life brings next. You have worked hard and deserve respect for your efforts.

I am proud of the work that District 303 staff has historically done to prepare its students for what follows high school.

But more than that, I am proud of the young adults District 303 continues to graduate. Their personal and academic excellence is the “proof” that what we are doing as a school district and community is right.

Congratulations to the District 303 graduating class of 2006, and best wishes for your future.
