Education Partners, good afternoon.
The good news never stops, even though the school year does. More to
follow…
- In our ongoing efforts to make the District 303 web page even more
helpful and user-friendly, we’ve created and posted a new page for the
district’s “Gifted-Talented Program.”
Click on “Learning and Teaching,” and then on “Curriculum Main Page,” and
you’ll find the new page under both the elementary and middle school
curriculum sections. Or, click here for faster access: http://www.d303.org/learnteach/curriculum.htm
The new page also includes a link to the Gifted and Talented Resource Group,
a gifted student steering committee formed by parents. The Group’s website
is: www.gtrg-d303.org.
- Congratulations to St. Charles East High School junior Alex Jackson, who
finished 6th in the 400 meter run at the boys state track meet this past
Saturday.
- Congratulations as well to several St. Charles North High track athletes
who also did very well at the state track meet, including:
- Seniors Chris Rosso, Steven Wiitanen, and Andy Barbeau, and junior
Bryan Barker, who won 9th place in the 4x800 meter relay. The quartet
qualified for the finals on Friday by setting a new school record, and
then promptly broke their own record the next day.
- Senior Mike McDonnell set a school record to place 3rd in the 3,200
meter run.
- Senior Matt DeSilva earned 5th place in the 3,200 meter run.
- Mike McDonnell also won 11th place in the 1,600 meter run.
- Kudos to St. Charles East High School seniors Dan Jones and Stephanie
Miller, and St. Charles North High School senior Daniel Polito, who earned
“Honorable Mention” status on the Daily Herald newspaper’s 2006 Academic
Team. To be considered the students had to:
- Have received a minimum composite score of 32 on the ACT or 2150 on
the SAT
- Have a seven-semester cumulative grade point average equal to the top
1 percent of their class
- Have taken and passed Advanced Placement or honors classes
- Write an essay describing how their academic achievements relate to
their life goals
- Submit a letter of recommendation from a school representative
Have a good afternoon,
Tom Hernandez
