CHS STUDENT OF THE MONTH
SEPTEMBER 2006
Julia Shallcross
The faculty and administration of Community High School District 94 would like to congratulate Julia Shallcross for being chosen Student of the Month for September.
"I would like to be the Queen of England," quipped Julia when asked what her dream job would be. "I always wanted to know what royalty would be like. "Sitting high atop WeGo royalty she is also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and has been awarded for Outstanding Achievement in Math and Academic All-Conference.
Julia has kept more than busy during her time at CHS, participating in Basketball, Track and Field, Math Team, National Honors Society, the Powder Puff Committee, Peer Helping, and the Club Swim Team. She also swims on the Varsity Swim Team, coaches swim lessons for the West Chicago Sharks, and serves as a Certified Lifeguard for the Park District. Additionally, Julia volunteers her free time, spending hours assisting at Central DuPage Hospital.
Julia's fondest High School memory was qualifying for state in Swimming during her Sophomore year. "To achieve something like that will forever imprint my life; it was a simply amazing experience." Julia's accomplishments seem like the natural extension of her life philosophy: "Life is good. No matter what people may think is wrong, or how horrible things are, there is always something good that can be appreciated."
After High School Julia plans to become either a Nurse or Physician's Assistant, and is exploring possible avenues of study at a number of universities and institutions. Again, Julia says it best, assuring us that "After High School, I want to go out and be something. I don't want to settle for anything in life."
Congratulations, Julia, on your accomplishments at Community High School. We are extremely proud of your tremendous effort and wish you continued success and good luck in the future.
