Partners With Target for Sponsorship of
Immigrant Culture Through the Eye of a Lens
Community High School District 94 today announced a partnership with Target
for sponsorship of its Immigrant Culture Through the Eye of a Lens. This project
is a joint venture between the Welcome Center and the Art and Photography
Department at the high school.
Images will be chosen for a formal exhibit at the high school and then displayed
at the West Chicago City Museum.
"Students will learn about the art of photography," states Miguel Arroyo, who is Welcome Center Director, Project Coordinator and a professional photographer. "They will learn about photography as a career and be able to use photography to tell the story of their lives and their cultures. This project will instill pride in their diverse cultural experiences. In addition, they will enhance their writing and language skills by writing about the significance of their photos. The students will also gain mastery of the technology that is involved in digital cameras and the editing of software."
This sponsorship is part of the ongoing support Target provides to local communities throughout the country. Every week Target gives more than $2 million to strengthen families and communities across the nation, with a focus on education, the arts, social services and other vital community partnerships.
"At Target, we are making a real difference every day through our sponsorship program.' Said Laysha Ward, Vice President, Community Relations, Target.
