West Chicago's 'Coffee With the Mayor' a Success

January 26, 2007: West Chicago, Illinois - The atmosphere was comfortable as residents dropped in at City Hall throughout the morning last Saturday for a cup of coffee and conversation with Acting Mayor Michael Kwasman, other elected officials and members of the West Chicago Fire District. The City of West Chicago's first Coffee With the Mayor proved to be a successful venue for continuing the dialogue between government leaders and the community they serve.

The informal approach was refreshing to the many who attended and the open-house format worked well for busy schedules. While there were a number of specific issues brought up for discussion like water rates, taxes, and graffiti removal, the majority of people attending wanted to talk about the future goals of the City. Many expressed excitement with the progress West Chicago has made and a hope that momentum will continue to grow.

According to Acting Mayor Kwasman, "The morning was a success because it gave people an opportunity to share their ideas and concerns. We look forward to doing it again in February."

Coffee With the Mayor will be scheduled on the third Saturday of every month from 8:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. until further notice. No reservation is needed and residents are encouraged to just 'drop-in' to City Hall at 475 Main Street whenever it suits their morning schedule. The next Coffee is set for Saturday, February 17, 2007. For more information, call City Hall at 293-2200 ext. 123.
